10-Minute Tech: More Shower Volume, Less Pressure

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

If you are dissatisfied with the low volume of water flow in your RV due to the restriction in the water regulator (1/4-inch opening), try using a household-type unit.

I purchased a 3/4-inch pressure regulator at a hardware store and put an adaptor on each end to make it fit the water-hose-type inlet and outlet fittings. The regulator is preset for 50 PSI, but there is an adjustment to reduce pressure to 45 PSI (the desired pressure for RV water systems). This doubled the water flow in our rig.
