Let’s face it, towing an RV can be a complicated affair. You not only have to know the towing capacity of your truck, you’ll also need the GVWR of the trailer, while allowing yourself a safe cushion between those numbers. You’ll also need to know the trucks payload capacity and, in the case of a fifth-wheel trailer, what the pin weight of the rig you’re pulling. All of that can get a little complicated, especially when all you want to do is just go camping. Fortunately, the video above is here to help. It provides some basic background information for towing with a Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram, and Toyota Tundra. And best of all, it suggest some great half-ton fifth-wheel trailers to tow behind your half-ton pickup truck.

Those categories include ultralight models (under 10,000 lbs GVWR), mid-size fifth-wheels (10,000-11,000 GVWR), and heavy rigs (11,000-11,500 GVWR). Host Chris Young shares a few brief tidbits about each of the RVs, offering a few standout features to go along with the official weight of each rig. He also offers some good basic towing tops along the way, making this a useful clip to watch for anyone considering buying a fifth-wheel towable.
