Conquest 265BHS

The people at Gulf Stream Coach Inc. have come up with a way to provide five-bed
convenience in a relatively compact conventional trailer. The Conquest 265BHS model has an
overall length of a shade less than 30 feet, and it’s engineered with two slideout rooms,
one of which is designed to convert a rear corner convertible sofa and overhead bunk into
lots of additional sleeping space for visitors and/or children. As John Stringer of Gulf
Stream notes, “We took our top-selling 30BHS [measuring 31 feet, 6 inches in length] and
brought it down to a 26-foot model [actually 29 feet, 10 inches]. No sacrifices were made
in space; we simply added a second slide to allow the double bed with overhead bunks to
remain next to the oversized bathroom. Additionally, this makes into a second sofa or a
play area. It even has an extra television stand and cable connection for the ball game or
kids’ video.” At the front of the trailer is the private bedroom with its island queen-size
bed (with innerspring mattress), topped by overhead cabinets and flanked by shirt closets
and nightstands. Across from the foot of the bed is a TV cabinet, and next to that is a
small wardrobe. According to Darwin’s concept of natural selection (or perhaps merely the
normal hierarchy of life), this bedroom would belong to the parents/owners of the trailer.
The rest of the occupants have to find someplace else to spend the night. But that’s not
really a problem with this trailer. The second sleeping area is actually the living-room
convertible sofa, and the third is the 52-inch-wide dinette. Both of these are located in
the huge slideout area that spans the entire roadside wall in the central part of the
Conquest. If more overnight area is needed, the rear curbside slideout expands to allow
another convertible sofa to be transformed into a bed. And overhead is a fold-down bunk for
those who are athletic enough to climb aboard. All told, that makes five separate sleeping
spaces, which we’ve never seen in a trailer this size. But there’s more to the Conquest
than beds. Just take a look at the kitchen, with its L-shape design and five overhead
cabinet doors. By the way, all the cabinet doors are made using natural oak, built with
stout mortise and tenon construction. For added storage, there are three cabinet doors
below the countertop and a full set of utensil drawers. A large, residential-style and
color-matched double sink is fitted with a metal high-rise gooseneck faucet, making it easy
to wash veggies or dishes. A three-burner range, a conventional oven, a carousel microwave
oven and a large double-door refrigerator finish off the galley equipment. Carpeting
extends throughout the trailer, with the exception of the bathroom and the food-preparation
area of the kitchen. All the windows are dressed with designer treatments and hard valance
legs. Miniblinds are standard, but pleated shades are a popular option. A 13,500-BTU roof
air conditioner provides cooling in the summer months, and a 25,000-BTU furnace sends
warmth through in-floor seamless ducts to take the chill off the rest of the seasons. With
