- The EvoTrex-PG5 Travel Trailer Breaks Cover at CES: The big Tampa RV expo may be next week, but this week the Consumer Electronics Show is taking place in Las Vegas. While that event doesn’t always have a lot of big announcements about RVs, this year is an exception. At the event, a startup called Evotrex revealed its first RV, a travel trailer called the Evotrex-PG5. What makes this rig special? For starters, it comes with a 43,000Wh lithium-ion house battery, 1,500W of solar, and a gas-powered onboard generator, all of which should make off-grid camping a breeze. The trailer can also generate electricity to recharge an EV, comes with active power assist towing, an adjustable air suspension, and a motorized 43-square-foot patio deck. Check it all out here.
- Thor to Reveal New Class A Models in Tampa: Next week marks the start of one of the biggest RV shows on the annual calendar, when the Florida RV SuperShow gets underway in Tampa. We expect plenty of big news from the event, with the pre-show hype already off the charts. That’s due in part because Thor Motor Coach has already revealed that it will unveil several new Class A models at the event. Those include the new family-friendly Windsport 36H and the roomy Luminate HH36. We’ll be on hand to check these rigs out for ourselves, but for now you can get a sneak peek courtesy of RV Pro.

- Awaken RV to Reveal First Travel Trailer Model at Florida RV SuperShow: If you’re looking for something new in the towable space at the Tampa RV show, Awaken RV has you covered. The new brand is preparing to make its public debut and will be on hand to reveal its new 24′ fiberglass travel trailer, the Morningstar. In addition to being built for years of use, the new travel trailer will come with a fresh, modern, European-inspired design, a Battle Born off-grid power system, a Truma ducted HVAC system, a dry bath, a U-shaped dinette, and more. Check out the Awaken RV website for more info and stay tuned for further updates next week.

- Bowlus Announces “Endless Highways Frontier Edition”: Luxury RV manufacturer Bowlus has announced a new addition to its lineup as it further expands its “Endless Highways” line. The latest model is the Endless Highways Frontier Edition, which is a 27′ travel trailer built to celebrate the freedom and adventure that come with travel. This new model is available in two versions, both of which include torsion axles, electric brakes, four stabilizer jacks, and a kitchen with a two-burner induction cooktop, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. Of course, this being a Bowlus, it also has the distinctive silver aluminum exterior shell. Add the Adventure Package for 400W of solar and 19kWh battery.

- Coachmen Halts Development of Electric RVEX Camper Van: One promising new RV that won’t be in Tampa is the Coachmen RVEX. The electric Class B model was announced this past fall, but its future was soon cast in doubt when General Motors cancelled its BrightDrop electric van project, on which the RVEX was to be built. Coachmen tells RV News that it is still hoping to bring an e-RV to the market, but for now it has halted development while searching for a replacement chassis supplier.

- Roadmaster Launches Innovative Battery Disconnect Product: Roadmaster kicked off the new year with the introduction of an innovative new product. The company released the patent-pending Battery Ace, which allows RV owners to disconnect their batteries wirelessly. The device includes a small key fob that eliminates the need to route wires to the engine, drill through the firewall, or install a switch on the dashboard. Safety features include a Faraday pouch that blocks radio signals, ensuring the fob doesn’t accidentally activate the disconnect while driving. Conversely, when not in use, disconnecting the battery reduces parasitic power loss and extends the life of the power cell. Find out more at the Roadmaster website.

- Fogatti Debuts Powerful Furnaces for Winter Camping: The new InstaHeat Ultra RV Furnaces from Fogatti are specifically designed for winter camping. Available in 17,000, 25,000, 30,000, and 35,000 BTU versions, the new heaters are fast, powerful, and efficient. The company says the largest of the units can produce 260 cubic feet of airflow per minute, which is enough to warm up most RVs in just a few minutes. The 35k BTU model even has a maximum temperature of 176ºF, with all versions offering three modes of operation—rapid, standard, and sleep, which reduces noise levels to just 40 decibels. Find out more at the Fogatti website.

- Zion National Park to Restrict Large Vehicle Traffic This Summer: Anyone planning on visiting Zion National Park this summer in an RV may want to familiarize themselves with some new regulations. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, all vehicles 35′ 9″ in length, wider than 7′ 10″, and taller than 11′ 4″ or heavier than 50,000 lbs will be prohibited from driving the 10.7-mile-long Zion-Mount Carmel Highway between Canyon Junction and the park’s east entrance. The new restrictions also apply to tow vehicles pulling a trailer that exceeds 50′ overall, and trailers can’t be longer than 26′ from hitch to rear axle. The new rules start on June 7 and apply to large tourist buses, as well. Find out more here.
That’s a wrap for this week. See you next Friday, following what looks like another very busy week for news to share.
