One of the emerging trends among electric vehicle manufacturers is the inclusion of range-extending gas-powered generators to help bridge the gap between ICE vehicles and EVs. Now, that technology could be making its way into the RV space, thanks to a new high-tech startup. Last week, a company called Evotrex shared teaser images and specs for an upcoming travel trailer that promises to offer similar performance. In this case, the towable rides on an electric platform that includes a built-in gas generator to make it easier to camp off-grid for longer periods of time.

Founded by former employees of portable power brand Anker, Evotrex has just come out of stealth with a $16 million private investment fund to help it build its first travel trailer prototypes. The startup says the rig will make its official debut at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which takes place on January 6-9. Preorders will begin not long after the towable is unveiled, with pricing presumably revealed at the same time.

Right now, the Evotrex team is keeping most of the details of the travel trailer secret, although it has shared a few hints at what we can expect.  The rig will reportedly include roof-mounted solar panels and a large battery pack, although the size and capacity of those remain under wraps. A gas-powered motor will supplement the system, helping to recharge the batteries when the solar panels can’t provide enough of a charge on their own. This will allow owners to comfortably stay off-grid for more than a week at a time, while powering the HVAC, lights, appliances, and other systems.

The digital renderings of the Evotrex towable do offer a few insights into what it brings to the table. The RV has a sleek, modern design and includes a rear hatch that folds upwards to provide access to the main cabin. A patio extends from the rear of the trailer and could serve as a ramp for loading and unloading gear, à la most toy haulers. Inside, a dinette can be seen, with bench seating lining the walls. Beyond that, it’s hard to tell exactly what else the interior holds.

While this looks like a promising new entry into the electric RV space, we’ll have to remain patient until early January to find out more. The novel approach of using a hybrid power system will likely give the Evotrex trailer some benefits over the competition, but since this is a new startup, there are a lot of hurdles to be cleared before it goes into production. That said, the company is bullish on its prospects, indicating that the first shipments could start in late 2026. If true, that would be a monumental achievement in and of itself. For now, we’re looking forward to learning more about this interesting-looking new model.
