GM '07 Full-Size Pickups Coming

Best-in-class power, towing capability and fuel economy are features of GM’s new 2007
full-size pickups. Three cab styles and three box lengths are offered, along with eight
powertrain combos with 2WD or 4WD. Among the five suspension packages, there is an NHT
option for maximum towing capability. The light-duty model’s trailering capability ranges
from 4,300 pounds to a segment-topping 10,500 pounds. Engines include a 4.3-liter V-6, plus
a 4.8-liter, 5.3-liter, 6.0-liter (rated at 367 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque) and a 6.2-liter
(rated at 400 hp and 417 lb-ft) exclusive on GMC’s Sierra Denali. In addition to the manual
gearbox and four-speed automatic transmission, a new 6L80 six-speed automatic will be
available with Sierra Denali’s 6.2-liter engine. Light-duty (1500) models arrive in late
2006; heavy-duty models in early 2007. Base prices start around $24,000.
