Angola Coach starts with a Prevost, MCI or VanHool shell and works with each client to
completely customize a motorhome to his or her own needs.

A recently converted 45-foot 2000 Prevost Le Mirage XL features living-room and bedroom slideouts, and is considered the company’s most technologically advanced coach to date. The Prevost chassis features a
500-hp Detroit Diesel Series 60 turbodiesel engine mated to an Allison World HD 4060
six-speed automatic transmission; a Jacobs engine brake is optional. The coach has an
independent front-suspension system, front and drive-axle sway bars, an automatic
self-leveling system (coach in motion) and an integrated pneumatic level-low leveling
system (coach in station). Anti-lock braking is standard, with discs on the front and tag
wheels and drums on the drive wheels. The Prevost shell consists of an integral structure
made of rust-protected, high-tensile low-alloy steel and stainless-steel tubing; the flat
or fluted outer-shell sidings are stretched, spot-welded at each end and bonded at the top
and bottom to form a rivet-free seal. On this particular example, Rogue Corporation fitted
the slideout additions to the living room and bedroom before Angola converted the interior.
When completely extended, the living-room slideout provides an additional 30 inches of
floor space, which accommodates an Ultra Leather sofa with storage drawer, a fabric-covered
sofa with a storage drawer and red-oak posts with relief sculpting. Entertainment is
provided by a flat-screen plasma television, true surround-sound speakers, a DVD player and
a Datron DBS 4500 motion satellite system. The kitchen features an L-shape Ultra Leather
booth, a trash compactor, an instant hot-water dispenser, a water-and-ice dispenser in the
full-size refrigerator’s door and a convection/microwave oven. Crystal puck lights and a
mirrored ceiling surrounded by color-changing fiberoptic lighting illuminate the
food-preparation area. Other features of note include an Aqua-Hot heater-and-hot-water
system, a Pure Water treatment system and tinted windows with Hunter Douglas motorized
blinds throughout the coach. The bedroom slideout provides an extra 24 inches of floor
space, and houses a 66×75-inch queen-size Tempur-Pedic Swedish bed with air assists to
access underbed storage. Other features include a padded vinyl ceiling with mirror and
fiberoptic lighting, a cedar-lined closet with initials on the mirrored door, a Clarion
AM/FM stereo and CD player, a Sony 20-inch television and a four-head VCR. The bath
features an enclosed toilet, a Centura vanity, a sink, a kick-space heater and a shower
with a frosted glass door, a full-size stacked washer/dryer and a clothes hamper. At the
other end of the coach, the driver’s area is equipped with an Ultra Leather Recaro driver’s
seat with a three-point integrated safety belt, a heating system and lumbar support; a
deluxe leather-wrapped wheel; a back-up camera; and a side-view camera. A Clarion Auto PC
combines an in-dash stereo and CD player with a PC interface that allows the driver to use
voice commands to select music, retrieve information and check e-mail without taking his or
her eyes off the road. The Auto PC provides information by “speaking” the displayed text;
it also couples with an additional global-positioning system (GPS) receiver to announce the
driver’s exact locale and continuous location updates. Technical features include a 20-kW
Martin Yanmar water-cooled diesel AC generator with auto switchover; two Trace 24-volt,
4,000-watt true-sine-wave inverters with 120-amp chargers and an emergency inverter
switchover; and a 120-volt AC 1/2-hp Jun-Air air compressor. Capacities include 208 gallons
of fuel (90-gallon auxiliary tank optional), 152 gallons of fresh water, 100 gallons of
gray water and 62 gallons of black water. Gross vehicle weight rating for the Prevost shell
is 48,900 pounds. Suggested retail price for a converted coach is $800,000-$900,000,
depending on how it is equipped. Article by: Chris Hemer Angola Coach Inc., P.O. Box 301,
