In 1977, best friends and food lovers Phyllis Hinz and Lamont Mackay set out in a Volkswagen van to begin a nine-month culinary journey around Europe. After settling down to successful careers as restaurant owners, they hit the road again in 1998, this time to explore North America in a forty-foot motor home, seeing—and tasting—all that it has to offer.

In The Cooking Ladies' Recipes from the Road, Phyllis and Lamont introduce the regional dishes and friendly folks they’ve encountered traveling the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Finding ingredients in farmers’ markets, roadside grocery stores, and sometimes on the end of a fishing line, the Cooking Ladies present 100 RV kitchen–tested recipes that anyone anywhere can cook on any stove.
